My First Ever Walk In Horsh Beirut – In Pictures

Prohibited from entering Horsh Beirut, I used to run around the park, hoping one day I’d be able to go inside this green oasis to run, walk, enjoy a picnic with friends, or just sit and read.

The municipality has barred entrance to the space for around 15 years for fear of vandalism and poor maintenance.

But on Saturday, I got to take a stroll in Beirut’s largest park for the first time ever. NAHNOO, an NGO advocating for shared public spaces in Lebanon, had received permission from the municipality to open the park to the public for only three hours (from 6-9 pm).
