The Pyramid Of Doom
I spotted this stencil on one of the metal boards aligning the old Vendome Stairs in Mar Mikhael. It’s such a loaded visual. I see in it a hierarchy and intersectionality of power dynamics. I see in it colonialism, imperialism and sectarianism. I see in it the Lebanese Civil War. I see in it the brutal history of Lebanon that keeps repeating itself every few years. I see in it the failed Lebanese system that we can’t seem to dismantle or break out of. I see in it pain and suffering. I see in it things I wish I could stop seeing, things I wish would stop happening.
